What this website collects, why, where it is stored and for how long. Written to describe what actually happens here rather than copied from a template — which is also why it is shorter than most.
DANBIA LLC, Shams Business Center, Sharjah Media City (Shams) Free Zone, Al Messaned, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Full company details are on the imprint page.
For anything in this document, write to daniel@danbia.ae. There is no separate data protection officer — we are two people, and one of us will answer.
Two sets, at the same time. As a company registered in the United Arab Emirates we are subject to Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data. Because most of our clients and visitors are in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation applies to us as well.
Where the two differ we follow whichever is stricter, which in practice is almost always the GDPR. This document is written to its structure.
Our server records each request: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, the referring page, and your browser and operating system. This happens for every website and cannot be switched off without switching off the server.
We use it to keep the site running and to see what went wrong when something breaks. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. These records are kept for up to 30 days and are not combined with anything else.
This website is hosted by Tasjeel, on servers in the United Arab Emirates. That means personal data of visitors from the European Union is transferred outside the EU.
The European Commission has not issued an adequacy decision for the United Arab Emirates. The transfer therefore takes place on the basis of standard contractual clauses agreed with our hosting provider under Article 46(2)(c) GDPR. A copy is available on request.
If you use the form on the contact page, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you write in the message field. Nothing else is required, and there are no hidden fields collecting anything further.
The submission is stored on our own server and also sent to us by email. We use it to answer you and, if we end up working together, to carry out the project. Legal basis: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, and your consent for the storage itself, Article 6(1)(a).
If an enquiry does not lead to a project, we delete it after 24 months. If it does, the correspondence becomes part of the project record and is kept for as long as we are working together and for the period afterwards that our accounting obligations require.
If you email us or write on WhatsApp, we have what you send us, for as long as the conversation is useful. The same retention applies as for the form. WhatsApp is operated by Meta and we have no influence over how the service itself handles your data — if that matters to you, email works just as well.
We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read and which are not. It runs only if you have agreed to it in the cookie banner. If you do not agree, it is not loaded at all — not in a reduced form, not anonymously, not at all.
If you do agree, Google receives your shortened IP address, the pages you visit, and technical details about your device and browser. Legal basis: your consent, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Provider is Google Ireland Limited, and data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States, which participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
You can withdraw consent at any time, and doing so is as easy as giving it — see the section below.
Consent on this site is handled by Complianz, a plugin that stores your decision and, until you have made one, prevents Google Analytics from loading at all. Complianz sets a cookie of its own to remember what you chose — that one is necessary for the banner to work and is not optional.
Nothing else on this site sets a cookie. There is no advertising pixel, no social media button that phones home, no embedded video, no map, and no chat widget. The fonts are installed on our own server rather than loaded from Google.
To change or withdraw your decision, open the cookie settings from the link in the footer of the banner at any time and choose again. Refusing is exactly as easy as agreeing, and nothing on this site stops working if you refuse.
Our hosting provider, because the site runs on their servers. Google, if and only if you agreed to analytics. Nobody else — we do not sell data, we do not share it with advertising networks, and we do not use it for anything other than what is described above.
You can ask us what data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, ask us to restrict what we do with it, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting what happened before.
Write to daniel@danbia.ae. We answer within a month, usually within a few days, and we do not charge for it.
If you are not satisfied with how we handled it, you can complain to the data protection authority in the EU country where you live or work. In the United Arab Emirates the competent body is the UAE Data Office.
If we add something to the site that processes data, this page is updated before that thing goes live rather than afterwards. The date below tells you when it was last changed.
